Fresh fossils 

Many coral reefs, fresh (geologically) out of the ocean, sit on the beach of Sail Rock in Kenting. I noticed many imprints on the giant rocks. Apparently, these imprints were once life. This is the first time I found fossils outside a museum. After that, I found fossils everywhere. Taiwan is young geologically. Kenting is incredibly young. Many fossils are still fresh and vivid, easy to recognize.

Unlike other kinds of fossils, coral reefs fossilize as they grow, when they are alive. It is easy to recognize them and connect them to life. People must recognize the link between fossils and life early on. Indeed, some ancient Greeks already connected fossils to living organisms. But the dominant philosophers, such as Aristotle, rejected such a connection. We have to wait for two thousand more years before the link between fossils and life gets accepted in the social sphere.

Dominant ideologies always prefer static over dynamic theories. Dominant ideologies represent the interests of the ruling class. They always promote the idea that the current system is ideal, or in optimal equilibrium state. This legitimizes the dominance of the ruling class. It is no difference now. General equilibrium theory is the dominant economic theory today.
