川普（坐得很直，手摊开）：

So, Nicolás, welcome to America.

Not the vacation kind, but still—America.

马杜罗（整理外套，神情镇定）：

川普先生，我是被“邀请”来的。

川普（点头）：

Exactly.

We call it aggressive hospitality.

You call it… destiny.

马杜罗：

你们抓我，是为了民主？

川普（摆手）：

Democracy is just the wrapping paper.

We’re here for leverage.

（他顿了一下，压低声音。）

马杜罗（苦笑）：

你们美国人很现实。

川普：

Wrong.

We are very optimistic about other people’s resources.

（短暂沉默。）

马杜罗：

为了吃得好些，搞点航运帶货。不是有意冒犯尊驾的。

川普：

Don't be silly. You're in good hands. 

马杜罗（叹气）：

那你打算怎么处置我？

川普（想了想）：

Depends.

If you’re cooperative,

you'll become a case study.

If not—

you'll become a warning label.

马杜罗：

你们不是说，不干涉别国内政吗？

川普（一本正经）：

We don’t interfere.

We participate.

Big difference.

（马杜罗笑了，笑得很疲惫。）

马杜罗：

那你呢？

你也被你们的制度“活擒”过。

川普（一愣，随即哈哈大笑）：

Touché!

Yes, yes, very true.

I was captured by courts, media, polls…

But look at me—

still standing, still talking.

That’s America.

马杜罗：

听起来，你很羡慕我这种“长期执政”。

川普：

羡慕？

No.

I prefer intermittent power.

More dramatic. Better ratings.

（川普站起来，绕着桌子走了一圈。）

川普：

你知道你输在哪儿吗？

马杜罗：

请指教。

川普：

You controlled too much reality.

People like illusions, Nicolás.

Give them slogans, not shortages.

马杜罗（苦笑）：

你这是在教我治国？

川普：

No.

I’m teaching you branding.

（两人对视。）

马杜罗：

那历史会怎么写我？

川普（想了想）：

Depends.

If it’s us—

you were a tyrant.

If it’s your people—

you were complicated.

If it’s Wikipedia—

it’s going to change every six months.

马杜罗：

那你呢？

川普（摊手）：

But louder.

（门外有人敲门。）

助理：

Mr. President，媒体在等。

川普（回头）：

Tell them this was a constructive conversation.

（转回马杜罗。）

You see?

Nobody asks what was constructed.

马杜罗（站起身）：

所以，这就是强权的真相？

川普（耸肩）：

No.

This is negotiation.

Truth is optional.
