Aaron Tucker, a 32-year-old from Bridgeport, Connecticut, had just been released from jail a week earlier. He was staying in a halfway house and had a job interview lined up that morning. Dressed in a clean shirt the halfway house gave him, he caught a bus to get to his interview. On the way, the bus driver saw a car that had crashed into a tree and flipped over. Without thinking twice, Aaron jumped off the bus and ran to help. He knelt down, unbuckled the driver, and pulled him out of the wreck. As he reassured the man, saying, “You’re gonna be okay,” the car burst into flames. Aaron took off his clean dress shirt and used it to stop the driver’s head from bleeding. Shortly after, firefighters and EMTs arrived to take over. Aaron missed his job interview that day, but for him, saving a life was more important. “A job can come and go, but a life is a one-time thing,” Aaron said. When people in the community heard his story, they set up a GoFundMe page and raised over $60,000 for him. On top of that, Aaron received many job offers.
