How to fix LG TROMM washing machine “tE” error?
My LG washing machine suddenly stopped working ang displayed error code “tE”.
I asked ChatGPT:
“My washing machine LG TROMM, has no thermistor, no heat element either, why it displays error code "tE"? What is the fault”?
ChatGPT Replied:
The “tE” error code on an LG TROMM washing machine typically stands for “thermistor error” — which normally indicates a problem with the temperature sensor (thermistor) or the heating circuit.
However, you mentioned:
? Your LG TROMM has no thermistor, and
? It has no heating element either.
This is unusual because most LG washers that display a tE error do expect a thermistor in the circuit — even if they don’t heat the water directly. Let’s troubleshoot based on your description:

🔍 Possible Causes & Solutions
1. Wiring Harness or Main Board Misinterpretation

Me:
I searched on line and followed suggestions: open the machine back plate , find the location of a thermistor near by a heating elements, at the machine drum back.

But I opened the plate, nothing there.
I asked again:

Finally I got enough info. and fixed the machine, here it is the whole solution :
Hi ChatGPT:
Sorry I made a mistake, in my LG washer TROMM, there is no heating element, but it has a thermistor, which hided on drum front at 5 o’clock position, I opened the front panel and found it.
Please see the pictures
I did not buy a new thermistor, instead of that, i just simply connected the plug with a 47k ohm resistor to fool the computer.
It works greatly.
Below is the source I got the idea from:

LG WM3270CW Throwing te error code
Last one that I worked on with that error the thermistor wire was broken. I know the diagram says it doesn't have one I'd just pull the front off and look, usually at the bottom side of the front of the tub around the 5ish o'clock position.

ChatGPT provided a conclusion:
Here’s a clean and complete summary of your fix for anyone else who may run into the same issue.
LG TROMM Washing Machine – tE Error Code Fix (Without Replacing Thermistor)
Symptoms:
LG washer (model WM3270CW or similar) shows tE error, which indicates a thermistor fault.
According to the wiring diagram, no thermistor seems present — but that’s misleading.
Diagnosis:
Upon inspection, the thermistor is actually located at the 5 o’clock position on the drum, hidden behind the front panel.
Common cause: broken or faulty thermistor, or disconnected/broken wires.
Creative Fix:
Instead of replacing the thermistor, a 47k ohm resistor was used to simulate it.
The resistor was connected directly to the thermistor plug to “fool” the control board into thinking a working thermistor is present.
Result:
Washer works perfectly — no more tE error.
