【注】1907年，纽芬兰(意译“新大陆”)曾是一个独立的国家，与新西兰、澳大利亚和加拿大一起被英国授予自治领地位，直到1949年加入加拿大联邦或者说被加拿大收编，难怪迄今仍有很多老字辈铁粉认为自己是英国佬而非加拿大汉。2001年，它由新大陆改为新大陆与大地(Newfoundland and Labrador)，更加强化了“新大陆”寓意，不管神慈圣徒是首都还是省会，始终被视为北美洲最东端的城池(不包括格陵兰“绿地”岛)。
