你可能听过上面的英语俗语，它究竟是什么意思呢？

 

shame on me 的意思是“我丢脸”，句子的字面翻译是：

 

人家骗我一次，是他丢脸，骗我第二次，我丢脸！

 

换句话说，

 

第一次受骗若不警惕，第二次受骗是你活该！

 

注：这俗语有另一个常见变体 

Gyp me once, shame on you,

Gyp me twice, shame on me!

    谢谢你的提醒。我把这句经典 Bushism （“布什主义” -- 布什名言变国际笑柄）忘了。看来很多人记得的是小布什这句而不是其他那些变体。

    人民喜爱的布希总统在公开讲话里曾经说过这语，Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, shame on？？？？ （me again?)
    布希当场卡壳。这是美国比较有名的真实事件，电视上大家都看到的，也成为自由派讽刺总统智商的例子。
    Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me.
    即所谓吃一堑应该长一智的概念，生活中常见的说法。
    可惜美国人最大的特点就是历史不及格，因此同样的错误屡犯，也因此这句话就被人喜欢引用。

    如果开头的版本是文绉绉（是褒是贬，有待指教），结尾的 “ Gyp me once…” 那个版本可有点“粗啦啦”了。

    至于 fool me once 是 “文” 还是 “粗” 呢， who knows?  哈哈。。。

    当然，是骗子的神父也不比任何其他种类的人少。　鼓吹宗教信仰的人一样也是要么傻子，要么骗子。自己信宗教的人不管他是真信还是假信我都可以尊敬他，但是我不会不认为他是骗子，如果他老是抓住任何机会都要宣传他的宗教。　

    我不信任何政治派别，所有的政治派别本质上都是一样的。　我也不信任何宗教，所以我不喜欢甚至讨厌宣传宗教的人。如果我去那个教堂，他向我宣传宗教我还是尊重他的。　如果我去他那个政治活动场所，他向我宣传他的政治主张我也是会尊重他的。　但是，如果他在餐馆学校和像这样的网站，宣传宗教或者政治，那我就认为他是一个骗子。　　

    世界就是骗子统治着，这一方的骗子总要说另一方的骗子是骗子，他自己是真正的比如“民主”。　这个世界上没有一个统治者不是骗子，　因为不骗就不可能统治。当然“民主”真的还是有一点的； 只是鼓吹这“民主”的只能是傻子或者骗子。　

    我可能已经说多了。就怪我看到你这句“……ｓｅｃｏｎｄ　ｔｉｍｅ，ｓｈａｍｅ　ｏｎ　ｍｅ”　就自然地联想到这麽一个在明白不过的事情。　

    我说这些，重覆一下不是政治观点；是说我为什麽自然地想起了说这些。所以我一旦发现某人其实是这样的人后，马上就采取了远离的态度。这里有几个人的博客我是绝不会光顾的。比如这里就有一位，有一次指名说是我怎么怎么，又一次还要为了我，我就再永远不会答理他。自以为可以为了我好的人必然就是骗子，为什麽？　因为我从来不认为我比人任何人聪明，任何人认为他比我更聪明也是绝不会被我买账的！　

    我说到这里，就是一个意思。　如果我的话不中你听，尽管删去我的评论。我绝不会再光顾你的地盘一次，即使我很喜欢你的英语介绍。
