Female Giant Panda Successfully Mates Abroad

A female giant panda was successfully mated in Japan last week, making her the first second-generation giant panda to successfully mate abroad, China News Service reported on Sunday.

"Liang Bang", a female giant panda successfully mated with "Yong Ming", a male giant panda three times within two days at the Adventure World in Shirahama in Wakayama city, Japan last week, according to experts at the Chengdu Research Base of Giant Panda Breeding.

"Liang Bang" is the offspring of "Mei Mei", another giant panda bred in captivity, making her a second-generation giant panda. She is the first to mate abroad from among her second-generation peers since China started the International Cooperation on Giant Panda Breeding Project.( CRIENGLISH.com )
