One of the China's top law schools launched a web-based service Sunday dedicated to protecting the rights of job-hunting college students in an attempt to fight pervasive employment discrimination against young adults in the workplace.

Xinhua News Agency reported that the first-of-its-kind service will offer legal consultation services to students all over the country. The university's rich legal talents will provide advice and help on combating employment discrimination.

The website also offers information on employment law, interpretations of work regulations and information about how students can protect their rights when looking for jobs.

In recent years, college students competing for jobs in the country's tight labor market have faced discrimination from prospective and actual employers and have not had a way to safeguard their rights. The Xinhua article cites a report that indicates about 74% college students have faced discrimination on the job.

Ma Kangmei, vice chancellor of the China University of Political Science and Law, recruited Yue Cheng, a renowned attorney who operates one of the leading law offices in China, to provide services for the program.

"The China University of Political Science and Law will focus on building the program and providing legal aid to all college students who encounter discrimination when job hunting," Ma said. ( CRIENGLISH.com )
