More than half of white-collar Chinese workers do not enjoy their jobs, a recent survey of white-collar netizens revealed.

The survey, carried out by the MSN Chinese website and research company iResearch, polled 100,000 netizens between the ages of 23 and 40 years old whose monthly salary exceeded 3000 yuan, the 'Shanghai Morning Post' reported.

The result shows 47.8 percentage of respondents intended to change their jobs in the coming year (from November 2006 to November 2007).

Meanwhile, the 75 percent of voters who had changed jobs at least once cited three reasons for moving on: a low salary, a lack of respect from the boss and too much bureaucracy.

White-collar workers born in the 1980s tend to change jobs more frequently, at an average of 2.4 times every six years. Only 32 percent of them still work for their first employers.

The poll on career happiness shows only 45.1 percent of respondents regard working as "a happy experience" and 54.9 percent hold negative opinions. Nearly 40 percent of them even admit they are working "reluctantly."

The main reasons for their dissatisfaction were a "failure to fulfill one's dream" and a lack of a "sense of accomplishment." (CRIENGLISH.com)
