China Tipped as World's Top Conference Destination
China is expected to become the favourite destination for international companies to hold conferences or holidays for their staff, an international conference body has said.
China's tourism market is growing by 20 percent yearly, and is the most influential country in the global tourism industry.
The International Congress and Convention Association estimates China might become the first choice for international conferences and staff reward trips this century.
According to surveys, in 2006, 37 percent of global companies chose the Chinese mainland for their business conferences, exhibitions and holiday rewards for employees.
Among the cities likely to benefit are Beijing, which hosts the 2008 Olympic Games, and Shanghai, which will hold the World Exposition in 2010.
Reasons for the attraction to China include abundant natural and cultural heritage, plus a safe environment for visitors.
