Luxury meals are back on the menu for Chinese New Year's Eve, judging by the 18,888 yuan deluxe set dinner offered by one restaurant in Changsha in the central Chinese Hunan province.

The Capital Crowned Prince restaurant offering the deluxe meal has even gone step further. Customers must promise to spend at least 20,000 yuan on their New Year's Eve dinner before they can reserve a table.

The deluxe set dinner at the Capital Crowned Prince is designed to serve a maximum of 10 people. The total cost of the dinner is 18,888 yuan and the most expensive course costs 4,888 yuan. If dinners add a 15 percent tip, the meal will cost more than 20,000 yuan.

Despite the exorbitant price, the manager claims the meal is good value. All the ingredients will be sourced from an organic farm. Natural spring water will be used during the cooking process and served at the table. He adds diners will not be disappointed by the dcor at the restaurant or the music played during the dinner.

The restaurant manager also says seven people have already booked tables for the deluxe dinner, including TV stars and real estate tycoons.

Unlike Changsha, a number of Chinese cities have capped the prices restaurants can charge for New Year's Eve dinner. Suzhou in Jiangsu province and Hangzhou in Zhejiang province are two of the cities to have legislated more austere New Year's Eve dinners.
